A peaceful base in Svanholm Forest

The shelter site is located in a secluded clearing in Svanholm Forest, right next to the historic Svanholm Estate and its well-known eco-collective. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed, surrounded by tall trees and birdsong, far from traffic and the pace of city life. The site is ideal for hikers, cyclists, and families looking for a simple and nature-based overnight stay. Two small shelters provide a safe and cosy place to settle in with nature right on your doorstep.

Shelters, facilities and shared spaces

There are two shelters, each accommodating approximately 4–5 people, as well as good tent pitches in the area. Facilities include a covered dining area, fire pits, a composting toilet, and access to running water, making the stay both practical and comfortable. There is space to cook over an open fire, share the day’s experiences, and fall asleep to the sounds of the forest. The site is simple yet well maintained, with a strong focus on community and nature.

Close to routes and outdoor experiences

Svanholm is an ideal stop on longer journeys. The Fjord Trail (Regional Route 40) runs along the Isefjord approximately 6 km west of the estate and is popular with both walkers and cyclists. The Pontoppidan Route passes about 4 km away in Skibby, offering easy access to the area by bike. The combination of forest, fjord, and open landscape makes the area suitable for both short stays and longer breaks.

Booking, payment and practical information

The shelters are in high demand, and advance booking is recommended by emailing svanholmrundt@svanholm.dk. Overnight stays cost DKK 25 per person per night, while children under 6 stay free of charge. Payment can be made via MobilePay or in the café shop at Svanholm. The address of the operator is Svanholm Oplevelser, Svanholm Gods 16A, 4050 Skibby. Overnight stays do not include access to the collective, but guests are welcome to join guided tours at Svanholm, held every Sunday during the summer season.
