In the heart of historic Svaneke lies Svanekegaarden – East Bornholm’s cultural centre and a welcoming place for art, music, theatre and cultural experiences throughout the year. The centre is located in one of Svaneke’s old merchant houses, where historic buildings and a charming courtyard create a unique atmosphere. For more than 30 years, Svanekegaarden has been an important cultural venue on Bornholm, offering a wide range of experiences for both locals and visitors.

Concerts, art exhibitions and cultural experiences

At Svanekegaarden, visitors can enjoy concerts, theatre performances, talks, author events and art exhibitions. The programme includes classical music, jazz, contemporary concerts and cultural events for both children and adults. The art exhibitions change throughout the year and showcase works from a wide variety of artists, while the popular café events create cosy surroundings for culture and community.

Sculpture garden, bookshop and creative surroundings

Beyond the events themselves, Svanekegaarden also offers smaller cultural experiences in its peaceful surroundings. The small bookshop sells Bornholm-themed postcards illustrated by Claus Seidel, and the sculpture garden features works by artists including Ole Christensen and Arne Ranslet. Svanekegaarden is also known for its masterclasses and creative courses, which have become an important part of the cultural centre’s activities over the years.
