Food Festival in Aarhus with a focus on Nordic food culture

The Food Festival in Aarhus is a culinary event that brings together food lovers and producers from across the Nordic region for a weekend of taste, aroma and inspiration. Discover Nordic food culture when Tangkrogen is transformed into a vibrant food mecca filled with experiences for both the senses and the curious mind.

The Nordic region's largest food festival

Food Festival is one of the Nordic region's largest events focusing on Nordic food culture. Over the course of three intense days, you can taste your way through local specialities, innovative dishes and green innovations – presented by some of the most talented producers, chefs and food enthusiasts from across the Nordic region.

Taste, learn and participate

The festival is not just about eating. It is also about learning, experiencing and being inspired. You can participate in food workshops, talks, tastings and debates on everything from sustainability and ecology to the food of the future. Here you have the opportunity to get close to those who produce the food – and learn more about what you put on your plate.

Activities for the whole family

The Food Festival is for everyone – including children and young people. In the festival's Children's Area, the youngest visitors can explore the world of food through fun activities, tasting, play and learning. This makes the festival an ideal family experience where all generations can participate.

Danish Hot Dog Championship

Year after year, one of the festival's absolute highlights is when some of Denmark's most popular and renowned chefs reinterpret the classic hot dog. The Danish Hot Dog Championship is a magnet for food lovers who are crazy about all kinds of hot dogs, where ‘with everything’ takes on a whole new meaning. Over the years, hot dogs have been adorned with everything from live lemon ants crawling out of your hot dog to hot dogs served in jet-black bread and hot dogs served by masked, dancing waitresses.

Danish Barbecue Championship

You can also be there to witness the winner of the Danish Barbecue Championship. Here, several teams compete for the honourable title of ‘Danish Barbecue Champion’. The teams compete in both known and secret categories, where their barbecue skills are put to the test.

Unique surroundings by the bay

The festival site is located on Tangkrogen in Aarhus – right by Aarhus Bay and close to the city centre. Here, tents, stalls and food stages create an atmospheric setting for the many experiences. With a view of the water and the smell of freshly prepared food in the air, you will enjoy a sensory experience beyond the ordinary.
