Udbyhøj Ferry (Randers Fjord Færgefart)

Take the ferry between Udbyhøj North and Udbyhøj South with one of the Randers Fjords Ferries. Even if there is not far from shore to shore, you will find that Randers Fjord has no less than two ferries sailing across - every ten minutes!

The Udbyhøj Cable Ferry operates between Udbyhøj Nord and Udbyhøj Syd and is Denmark’s only cable-operated ferry. Built in 2006, it is designed as an open, double-ended ferry with a continuous vehicle deck and ramps at both ends.

As part of a conversion, the ferry was equipped with a shore power system. Electricity is supplied from shore to the ferry via a cable wheel on board, allowing the ferry to operate on electricity from shore during the crossing.

The crossing takes approximately four minutes, with views across the mouth of the fjord and the extensive coastal meadows along the way. If you are lucky, you may also spot seals and harbour porpoises in the area.

The cable ferry can carry either two lorries without trailers and six cars or twelve cars, as well as up to 98 passengers.

The ferry operates throughout the year, except during periods of scheduled servicing and maintenance.

Randers Fjords Færgefart

The Udbyhøj Cable Ferry is operated by Randers Fjords Færgefart, which also runs the ferry service between Mellerup and Voer with M/F Ragna.

Both ferry services cross Randers Fjord in approximately four minutes. See the current timetable at Randers Fjords Færgefart.
