Tønder Museum

Højer Mølle from 1857 is both a museum and a well-preserved cultural environment located on the edge of the marsh - a fantastic cultural landscape where the fight against the water has influenced and influence people and buildings for centuries. Northern Europe's tallest Dutch windmill with magazines, windmill housing and the atmospheric windmill garden offers stories about the windmill's history and technology. Enjoy the impressive view of Tøndermarsken and the Wadden Sea from the mill, go for a walk in the mill garden and enjoy refreshments in the café.

In the summer of 2019, Højer Mølle opened with completely new exhibitions and facilities. Here, the two old grain magazines contain stories about Marsken's history and a climate lab targeted at families with children, where you can play with the water's impact on the area via an interactive exhibition.
