Slotsbanken by Koldinghus in the center of Kolding
Slotsbanken is an Ice Age clay mound whose height made it the ideal site for Koldinghus. Today, it serves as a state-maintained promenade park.

Castle Bank
The Castle Bank was made when the clay ground was pushed up by ice during the Ice Age. The marked elevation made it natural to place Koldinghus fortress here, and it is a landmark in the city. The Castle Bank is used as promenade and park and it is owned and cared for by the state.
