A scenic retreat under the stars

The shelter at Særløse Overdrev is located on a natural campsite, sheltered by woodland on a small hill right next to a gently babbling stream. The surroundings are calm and scenic, perfect for those who want to sleep close to the sounds of the forest and the birds’ morning song. Set up camp in the light of the first rays of the morning sun, or enjoy the dusk by the shelter after a day filled with experiences on the open heath.

Riders and groups are kindly asked to call Torben Oppfeldt in advance to make a booking, while individual guests may use the shelter on a “first come, first served” basis. A modest fee is charged via MobilePay per person per night, as stated on the signage at the site.

Easy access to the shelter

Access to the shelter is part of the experience: After parking at Vævestuen Oppfeldt on Tjørnehusvej 5 in Særløse Overdrev, you walk approximately 150 metres through a gate and across a field alongside a stream, where you cross the water and follow the path up to the shelter. Bicycles must be pushed for the last 100 metres through the grassy field. There is no official parking directly at the shelter, so the area by the property is used as the starting point.

The surroundings offer exciting natural scenery: Særløse Overdrev is an old heathland area with characteristic plant life and is located near Bøllesø and Avnsø, which are connected via the Skjoldunge Trails – ideal for both hikers and nature lovers.

Nature right outside the tent opening

The area around the shelter is rich in experiences. From the open heath with grazing cattle to the clear traces of Denmark’s natural history in hills, lakes and wetlands, there is something new to discover every time you turn your gaze to the landscape. The nearby Særløse Stream winds through the area and contributes to its peaceful atmosphere.

Here you will find fresh air, birdsong and a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life – a chance to recharge at nature’s own pace.
