Ruby Lake is in fact a former coal mine

The Ruby Lake (Rubinsøen) in Hasle is a nice excursion destination for every age.

The lake is a former coal mine outside Hasle on Bornholm. During World War II, it was difficult to source enough fuel for the companies manufacturing on Bornholm, so a greater utilization of coal layers began south of Hasle. In the years 1942-1948, more than 30,000 tons of lignite were mined in the tomb, which now is filled with water, and bearing the poetic name of Ruby Lake (Rubinsøen).

Ruby Lake - a great place for picnics

Ruby Lake is an obvious place for a nice picnic. In the fall you can taste de lovely wild blackberries along the forest paths above the steep slopes that surround the former coal pit. You will also find tables and benches. Perfect when consuming food, or if you want to enjoy a quiet moment with your eyes on the lake and the colors of the season.

Ruby Lake - a good fishing lake

The Ruby Lake is also a great place to go fishing for pikes. The stock is large and so are the fish. If you are more into co-fishing, Ruby Lake is equally ideal. No fishing license required.
