The Poet’s Path on the Moors of Himmerland is a roughly 5 km long hiking route that takes you through an open, heath-covered landscape near Gammel Vindblæs in Vesthimmerland. The route is named after Johannes V. Jensen, the famous Danish author who grew up in Farsø and was deeply influenced by the heathland areas you can now walk through. This journey gives you the opportunity to enjoy nature and get a sense of the places that inspired Jensen’s literary works.

Along the way, you will pass six literary markers – touchpoints that link the landscape’s locations to quotes and themes from Johannes V. Jensen’s works. These markers serve as reminders of how the landscape has helped shape his stories. The Route and Terrain

The route is marked and relatively easy to walk, although some sections may be a bit uneven, so good footwear is recommended. You will pass old sunken roads, a ridge with views, and depressions formed by the Ice Age. Along the way, you will also experience places that inspired Johannes V. The Poet’s Path is about 5 km long and follows a circular route through the varied heathland landscape. The terrain is generally easy, but some areas are a bit uneven, so it’s recommended to wear good footwear. Dogs are welcome on the route, but they must be kept on a leash. The route can be walked year-round, but be aware that there are no facilities along the path, so it’s a good idea to bring both water and possibly some food. Parking is available near the starting point at Vindblæs Hede, where you can begin and end your hike.
