Naturpark Vesterhavet is one of Denmark's most spectacular coastal landscapes – a place where the power of the North Sea meets peaceful dune plantations, expansive heathland and ever-changing sandy environments. Here, you'll discover a unique blend of nature and culture that makes the area truly special.

Spectacular and diverse nature

In the nature park, you can hike through towering dunes, wide sandy beaches and tranquil forests, cycle along winding woodland tracks or experience the rich wildlife at close quarters. The area is renowned for its large populations of red deer, its diverse birdlife and its distinctive coastal landscapes, which change with the seasons and the weather. In late summer, the heathland bursts into purple bloom, while the beaches offer tranquillity, opportunities for amber hunting and views stretching as far as the eye can see.

Cultural heritage in the landscape

Naturpark Vesterhavet also has a rich cultural heritage. Discover traces of the Second World War through bunkers and coastal defence structures, follow the stories of historic lifeboat crews along the coast or visit traditional fishing villages where the heritage of life by the sea still lives on. Around Oksbøl, you can also learn about the refugees of the Second World War, while throughout the park, architecture and interpretation connect the past with the present.
