Hjortshøj Church

Hjortshøj Church, which consists of a Romanesque chancel and nave as well as a later tower and porch, is located in an idyllic old village setting in the village of Hjortshøj near Aarhus.

The oldest part of Hjortshøj Church, the nave, dates back to the 12th century. However, in the late Middle Ages, the Romanesque church underwent a major renovation, during which the choir and nave were joined together. Before the Reformation, this was highly unusual. The year, 1492, can still be seen on a vault inside the church.
