Spring Bazaar at Sorø Art Museum
Sorø Art Museum's annual spring bazaar gathers artists, designers and craftspeople under one roof. Experience unique works, creative craftsmanship and spring atmosphere in beautiful surroundings in the historic academy town by Sorø Lake.

Art, craft and spring vibes in the heart of Sorø
When spring arrives in Sorø, Sorø Art Museum opens its doors for its annual spring bazaar. The museum, beautifully situated on Storgade in the historic academy town, transforms its setting into a lively market where art, craftsmanship and creativity meet spring spirit and community.
A market with quality and soul
The spring bazaar brings together selected artists, designers and craftspeople from across Zealand. Here you will find everything from unique ceramics and hand-printed textiles to jewellery, graphic prints and other original works that you will not come across in the large chain stores. It is the kind of market where you easily lose track of time, because every table and every stall offers something new to discover.
The exhibitors are handpicked, and the focus is on quality and originality. Many of the artists are present at their stands and are happy to share the process behind their work. This creates a completely different experience from ordinary shopping – here you buy directly from the person who created it.
Sorø Art Museum as a backdrop
The museum itself is an experience in its own right. The building, which houses one of Denmark's finest collections of Danish art from the Golden Age to the present day, provides an atmospheric setting for the bazaar. The architecture and the bright, open rooms offer space for both market atmosphere and tranquillity. The museum's permanent collection and any special exhibitions can typically also be visited on the day, allowing you to combine the bazaar visit with an art experience.
In the heart of Sorø's historic town centre
Sorø Art Museum is located on Storgade, the town's historic main street connecting Sorø Academy with the town square. The area around the museum offers cosy cafés, the beautiful Academy Garden and Sorø Lake, which glistens just behind the academy buildings. A walk along the lake after the bazaar visit is almost obligatory when the spring sun shines over the old oak trees.
The town is easily accessible by train from both Copenhagen and Ringsted, and from the station it is only a few minutes' walk to the museum. Parking is available close to Storgade.
A tradition that brings the region together
The spring bazaar is more than a market. It marks the shift from winter to spring and serves as an informal meeting place for art enthusiasts, locals and visitors from across West Zealand. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and it is a perfect occasion to find a unique gift, discover a new artist or simply enjoy a pleasant day out.
Experiences in the area
Sorø and its surroundings offer plenty of experiences beyond the bazaar. Visit Sorø Abbey Church with its medieval tombs, take a walk in the Parnas forest, or explore the many trails around Sorø Lake and the Pedersborg Hills.
