The Festival of Centuries
The Festival of the Century is a knowledge and culture festival in and around Aarhus. Here you can experience a mix of knowledge, art and culture in themes about the life we live and the society that surrounds us. The theme of the Festival of the Century in 2026 is ‘THE WORLD’.
Knowledge and culture in the heart of Aarhus
The Festival of the Century is an annual knowledge and culture festival that transforms Aarhus into a vibrant stage for conversations, reflection and experiences. Over ten days in March, the festival invites you to attend lectures, performances, concerts and debates with some of Denmark's most exciting communicators, researchers and artists.
The festival is organised by the Folkeuniversitetet in collaboration with a wide range of cultural institutions, libraries and educational establishments, and each year has a new theme as its focal point.
Theme 2026: THE WORLD
In 2026, the Festival of the Century will focus on the theme THE WORLD. Here you can delve into stories about globalisation, cultural encounters and the connections that bind people and societies together across time and space. The programme is wide-ranging and offers both thought-provoking insights and sensory experiences.
The festival's events take place at several locations in Aarhus – from large stages and auditoriums to libraries, museums and the city's cultural centres.
A vibrant urban space full of stories
The Festival of the Century brings knowledge to life. Here, research, art and culture come together in a festival programme that is both in-depth and entertaining. You can experience events that appeal to both your curiosity and your senses – and gain new perspectives on the world you are part of.
