Step inside and explore the monastery's private rooms and beautifully decorated King's Hall, which open to visitors especially for the Christmas market. The historic surroundings and charming Christmas decorations create a unique festive atmosphere.

The Christmas market is Børglum Monastery's largest annual event. In the renovated former stable, you can browse a large and varied selection of stalls offering arts and crafts, creative products and local delicacies.

Be sure to visit the Christmas decoration shop in the red stable and the Monastery Shop, where you can find special Christmas gifts, festive decorations and inspiration for the holiday season.

There is also plenty of Christmas cheer to enjoy, with welcoming activities and experiences for visitors of all ages.

Famous settings from a much-loved Christmas TV series

Børglum Monastery became widely known in Denmark when the Christmas TV series Ludvig og Julemanden was first broadcast on TV 2 in 2011. Since then, it has become one of the country's much-loved Christmas favourites.

During the market, you can explore Santa's workshop and living room as seen in the series, along with props from the production. It is a wonderful opportunity to rediscover the familiar Christmas magic and share the experience with family and friends.

Café Vognporten – enjoy traditional Danish Christmas food

Be sure to visit Café Vognporten, which serves delicious dishes inspired by a traditional Danish Christmas feast during the Christmas market weekends.

Located in the old stable, the café offers a special festive menu with something to suit both smaller and heartier appetites.

A special evening with Christmas fireworks

On Tuesday, 24 November 2026, Børglum Monastery will be open from 4 pm to 8 pm for a special evening event. Discover the Christmas market, the King's Hall and the monastery's festively decorated private rooms after dark, when the historic surroundings take on an extra magical atmosphere.

The evening concludes with a spectacular Christmas fireworks display at 8 pm, providing a festive finale to a memorable evening.
