Visit shops and houses and see how people have decorated for Christmas over the years. Sample Christmas food and crisps and take the children on a trip to Santa's attic or to Koglekjøbing.

Open every day during Christmas, including 24 and 31 December.

400 years of Christmas history

Taste, smell and try the traditions of Christmas. Discover how Christmas has been prepared and celebrated for 400 years. Enter people's homes and experience Christmas decorations and Christmas spirit through time.

Take the Christmas Route through Den Gamle By

Follow the lanterns and explore 400 years of Christmas traditions. For example, do you know why there are ladders in front of some of the windows in the old market town?

Taste the flavour of Christmas

Treat yourself to Christmas food and Christmas snacks from the stalls. Try apple slices from 1616, wild boar sausages, duck and roast pork sandwiches and much more. Wash it down with Den Gamle By's Christmas beer or mulled wine.

Santa's attic

Let the kids explore the Nisseloftet, where the furniture is magical and turns all children into little elves.

Koglekjøbing

Do you believe in elves or humans? Visit the elves' Koglekjøbing for an adventurous Christmas experience. But the fairytale only happens if you believe in it yourself.

The Christmas shop

Visit the Christmas shop in the Market Square, where you can buy Bramming's classic crawling nisser or mouth-blown, hand-painted glass ornaments carefully selected by small, family-owned businesses from Thuringia in Germany.

Christmas music in the streets

Enjoy Christmas music when brass bands from the Royal Danish Academy of Music fill the streets with beautiful melodies. Every Saturday and Sunday, as well as 22–23 December from 12 noon to 4 p.m.

Christmas in Den Gamle By is open every day from mid-November to the end of December.
