Every year, children from all over Denmark, and a few from abroad, participate in the Ærøskøbing Grand Prix, a popular soapbox race with an increasing number of participants each year.

That's not a problem, because that just means more soapbox cars are built. All the cars are built on Ærø, sponsored by Ærø companies and a single sponsor from Funen.

One by one, the children (aged 8 to 16 years) drive, carried only by the speed that the high ramp gives them - and driving skills!

The race can be run on a single day, or every day, from Monday to Thursday throughout week 42. If you're racing to win the trophy, you have to participate all four days. Driving is daily between 9.00 - 12.00.

Monday is a test run on Smedevejen, Tuesday is a match race on Smedevejen, Wednesday is a slalom on Baggårde and the race ends on Thursday with the grand finale on Omfartsvejen by Netto. Afterwards there will be a prize-giving ceremony at Det Gamle Værft.
