Trustrup Church
Trustrup Church on Djursland is a modern church dating from 1988, with its roots in classical Danish church architecture, a whitewashed exterior, an east-facing nave and striking artistic decoration.

A modern church with historical roots
Trustrup Church is situated in Trustrup on Djursland and was consecrated on 29 May 1988. However, the desire for a church in the town dates back to 1944, when Eva Blach from Lykkesholm took the initiative to establish the church. The churchyard was consecrated in 1947, whilst the actual construction of the church did not begin until many years later, with architect Holger Jensen as the designer.
Architecture with classical features
Although Trustrup Church is a modern church, the building draws on traditional Danish church architecture. The church is white, like Lyngby and Albøge Churches, and the nave faces east with a three-sided chancel.
At the same time, the floor plan breaks with tradition. The triangular shape follows the lines of the cemetery and continues into the relief on the altar wall. At the rear of the church interior is a meeting room, which can be separated from the main sanctuary by a curtain.
Art, light and the church interior
Architect Holger Jensen was also responsible for the church’s artistic decoration, including the brick relief on the altar wall, the silver altar cross, the altar candlesticks and the lamps.
The altarpiece depicts Jesus raising Jairus’s daughter from the dead. Daylight, the weather and the changing seasons all play a part in the church interior, where light also falls upon the baptismal font through a centrally positioned window.
