Theisens Gård
Discover one of the city's historic merchant houses from 1786, located at Axeltorv in Nakskov.
Theisens Gård is one of Nakskov's most impressive historical buildings, centrally located at Axeltorv. The beautiful merchant house from 1786 was run for many years by the Thiesen family, who traded everything from colonial goods to local products.
Today, Theisens Gård functions as a cultural center with meeting rooms, a shop, concerts, and exhibitions.
As you walk through the courtyard, you'll experience the fine Rococo facade, the cozy half-timbered houses, and the atmospheric courtyard. Theisens Gård has a rich history as a merchant house for over 100 years and was protected in 1918. It is a classic example of a well-preserved merchant house from Nakskov's time as an important trading city.
Visit Theisens Gård and feel the touch of history. Combine your visit with a walk through Nakskov's charming town center, where you can visit Nakskov Old Pharmacy, the city's landmark St. Nikolai Church, and see Denmark’s first equestrian statue of King Christian X.
