The Lilleå Stream and Lilleå Valley in Favrskov

The Lilleåen Stream and Lilleådalen Valley meander through the beautiful landscape between Hadsten and Hinnerup in Favrskov and form one of the largest tributaries to the Gudenåen River. The area offers a unique nature experience, where you can enjoy rich animal and plant life in peaceful, green surroundings.

The landscape of Lilleådalen was shaped during the last ice age, creating a hilly terrain with great variation. The interplay between the river, valley and nature makes the area ideal for hiking, nature excursions and outdoor experiences – and makes Lilleåen a particularly attractive nature area in Favrskov.

Access to Lilleådalen

In Hinnerup, there is a public path along Lilleåen, which runs very close to Ågade and Stadionsalle in the town. Access to Lilleådalen can also be found at Nørregade in Hinnerup, from where you can reach the footpath that runs through an exciting meadow/marsh area in the valley, where cows also graze. It is a good idea to wear long trousers here, as there are a lot of stinging nettles in the summer. There is also a hiking trail around the Sahara road in Hinnerup, which you can find via Haarvadsbro.

Animals and plants at Lilleåen

Lilleåen runs through Lilleådalen, stretching 37 km through a varied landscape, from its source south of Lading, through Hinnerup and Hadsten, until it joins Gudenåen at Langå. Lilleåen is known for its large population of sea trout, but also for being home to all kinds of insects. Lilleåen is also home to a good population of otters.
