LETTERS, SHAPES AND RULES IN GRAFFITI

This workshop is led by Mads Sonne Bremholm, who has been involved with graffiti culture for 30 years. Mads initiated the StreetArtBornholm.dk platform and the Nexø Walls project, where he has also painted himself. At this workshop, you can learn to create your first piece. There are many different styles – style writing, New York and abstract – but which elements recur? What rules apply when painting, and what makes good style? We will dive into letters, alphabets, flows, arrows, fills and colouring. Graffiti and street art are crafts, and here you can discover some of the secrets behind a great style. We will also explore how you can work more sustainably as an artist. The instructor often visits second-hand shops for canvases, frames and posters, so you may find both materials and inspiration for new possibilities. In addition to making sketches inspired by some of Denmark’s best-known graffiti artists and reviewing recent murals in Nexø, we can prepare a mini exhibition of graffiti. There is an opportunity to exhibit at Raschs Pakhus in connection with the concert on 19 September. You can show the works you create to friends, family and perhaps gain new fans. Wall space is limited, so the best works will be selected for presentation. Information about submitting works will be provided at the workshop. The exhibition opening takes place on Saturday 19 September at Raschs Pakhus before the concert begins.
