Enjoy a stay on the tidal island of Mandø, Island of the Year 2026–2027. In peaceful, scenic surroundings embraced by the Wadden Sea, the stay includes a two-course dinner, a talk about Dark Sky, the Wadden Sea and Mandø, a guided Dark Sky tour, overnight accommodation, breakfast and the option of a guided daytime tour of the island.

You will return before high tide, or you may stay on the island through high tide and extend your stay with another experience on Mandø.

Accommodation options

• Two-person accommodation: DKK 1,475 per person
• Three-person accommodation: DKK 1,350 per person
• Four-person accommodation with one double bed and one bunk bed: DKK 1,100 per person
• Without accommodation: DKK 1,000 per person

If high water levels prevent travel to the island, the full amount for the stay is refunded.

Practical information

Mandø Tractor Buses can be booked when booking your stay. You may also arrive by car, with guidance provided on driving in relation to the tide. Morning arrival is possible; check-in is from 15:00 to 17:30. Departure from the mainland by private car must be before 12:30, or shared transport leaves at 17:00.

Programme

Day 1: Arrival and introduction

• Welcome at the reception at Mandøpigen; for shared transport, meet on the mainland.
• Check-in and accommodation.
• A talk about the island’s history and the importance of the tides for life in the Wadden Sea, followed by a two-course dinner made with local ingredients.
• Learn about the Wadden Sea, UNESCO World Heritage, neuropsychology under the stars, Dark Sky, celestial phenomena, constellations and navigation by the stars.
• Stargazing at the Dark Sky site, followed by reflection around the bonfire and evening coffee.

Day 2: Breakfast and departure

• Breakfast, check-out and a guided daytime tour of the island.
• Time to enjoy the island on your own. Latest departure from the island is around 12:30, subject to confirmation on the day.
