Step into Fyodor Dostoevsky’s intense and enigmatic universe as the library’s literature presenters bring his stories to life through readings and lively introductions. Meet lonely souls, divided minds, feverish dreamers and people on the edge of themselves, portrayed with dark humour, tenderness and psychological precision. From the unsettling dissolution of identity in The Double to the melancholy night walks of White Nights and the biting satire of A Nasty Story, the evening opens the door to an authorship that still speaks directly to our own time. The audience is invited into an intimate space of literary presence, where voice, rhythm and storytelling take centre stage. Experience Dostoevsky’s texts as living, sensory and dramatic literature – closer to theatre and oral storytelling than quiet reading at home. The reading evening is the first of three atmospheric days focusing on Dostoevsky’s work through literature, talks and performing arts during Bornholm Culture Week 2026. The event is supported by the Danish Arts Foundation.
