A story about loneliness and identity
Aarhus Theatre and the Royal Danish Theatre present Dear Evan Hansen in collaboration with LION Musicals.
Dear Evan Hansen tells the story of a young man, Evan, who struggles with insecurity and social anxiety. When a letter he writes to himself is mistakenly seen as a classmate’s suicide note, Evan becomes entangled in a lie with far-reaching consequences.
The musical explores the intersection of digital connection, the longing for recognition, and the universal human need to be seen.
A Danish premiere with a strong creative team
The production is performed entirely in Danish. In the lead role as Evan Hansen is rising star Thorbjørn Hedegaard.
The staging is directed by Sara Cronberg, choreographed by Melker Sörensen, and features scenography and costume design by Karin Gille – all known for their strong visual storytelling at Aarhus Theatre.
The music and lyrics are by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, The Greatest Showman), with a book by Steven Levenson.
