LOVE BOMBS AND FLOATING BODIES

In autumn 2023, Kunstmuseum Brandts presents a comprehensive exhibition of the Austrian artist Kiki Kogelnik. At the beginning of the 1960s, she became part of the American pop art scene in New York, where her experimental art found resonance. There are equal parts technology fascination and peace activism at play in her large fluorescent paintings and sculptures. Her colorful art tells stories of alternative space travel with a focus on female astronauts, love bombs and floating bodies. For Kogelnik, space was a war zone, but also a utopian free space that holds the promise of change.
