Exhibition from 18.7.  to 16.8. 2026

On Saturday 18 July 2026, from 2 pm to 4 pm, there will be an opening reception for an exhibition of Nordic modern textile art, which, using handmade silk paper, rice paper, thread, watercolour and acrylic, brings Terje Vesaas’s final book from 1968 to life.

Across 17 large panels, Anne Brodersen follows the book’s chapters, creating illustrations that bring to life Terje Vesaas’s symbolic world and the nature and people he describes in a lyrical prose style. His descriptions are deeply sensory. As one reviewer of the book put it: a description in colours, in tones and light, of skin against skin, of feet in sand and marsh, of sunbeams on flat mountains, of the night’s wind over the river – and of signals from space travellers, floating around the globe. With the boat’s wake on the water’s surface as it glides towards all living things, the ultimate destination.

Anne Brodersen captures all of this in her pictures through her choice of motifs and her use of the textural qualities and expressive possibilities of her various materials.

A beautifully illustrated catalogue is available at the exhibition at the Vestjyllands Kunstpavillon, and Anne Brodersen is also bringing along other works from her collection. These will be on sale during the exhibition period.
She trained, amongst other things, on the Textile Course at the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen and is internationally recognised, having won awards in Denmark, China, Ukraine, Hungary and Poland. Most recently, she was awarded the Det Letterstedske Rejselegat 2023, which took her to Terje Vesaas’s home region.

As part of the exhibition, Anne Brodersen will give a talk on her illustrations and studies based on Terje Vesaas’s novel. It will take place on Thursday 13 August from 4.00 pm to 5.30 pm at the Vestjyllands Kunstpavillon.
