Christmas does not exist at Aarhus Theater

In a world where Christmas has disappeared, two children must take matters into their own hands. Julen findes ikke (Christmas Doesn't Exist) is Aarhus Theatre's new family show – a heart-warming and humorous adventure filled with music, magic and reflection. Here, playfulness, satire and Christmas cheer come together in a story that reminds us why Christmas means so much.

On Aarhus Theatre's Main Stage, a world unfolds where holidays have been abolished and Christmas exists only as a distant memory. When children Hannah and Laust find an old box of Christmas decorations at the grumpy Karl-Heinz's house, an unexpected adventure begins. Suddenly, something is brought to life – memories, music and perhaps the spirit of Christmas itself.

Original Danish family show

Julen findes ikke (Christmas Doesn't Exist) is an original Danish family show that combines poetry, humour and social satire with a strong musical universe. Through the eyes of children, questions about tradition, community and belief in something greater than oneself are explored. The show is created by a team of award-winning artists and offers both big emotions and small laughs. It is ideal for a December trip to the theatre for both children and adults who want to experience a new interpretation of the magic of Christmas.

The performance will run in November and December 2025 at Aarhus Theatre's Main Stage and is suitable for ages 6 and up.
