Barrel organ Festival

We’ll crank it up in Nyborg when the jolly barrel organ festival visit the town.

 

This summer, Nyborg's streets will be filled with 50 happy musicians when the barrel organ festival takes place from 21-23 July.

The organization Nordic Lirekassevenner visit Nyborg with barrel organ players from six different countries and joyful music from barrel organs will resonate in the streets. The players will crank the characteristic handle during the three festive days.

Program Friday 21 July
14.00: The festival is opened on the square by the Town Hall by mayor Kenneth Muhs and the chairman of Nordic Lirekassevenner, Jørgen Rosland.
14.30: Synchronous orchestral performance led by Svend Erik Gam.
14.45: Parade through the shopping streets.
15.00-17.30: Barrel organ music in the streets and on the harbor.
15.30: The square. Ullrich Schäfers plays on his large, specially built barrel organ.
15.30: Museum yard. A handful of tunes, including Nyborgsangen, played by Positivspilleren, complemented by Kirsia Isabella's singing and African drumming.
16.00: The Square. Svend Erik Gam leads synchronous orchestral playing.
16.30: The harbor. Barrel organ player Lutz plays and sings.
18.00: Barrel organ concert in Nyborg’s Church of Our Lady.

Program Saturday 22 July
10.00-17.00: Barrel organ music in the streets and on the harbor.
10.00: Museum yard. A handful of tunes, including Nyborgsangen, played by Positivspilleren, complemented by Kirsia Isabella's singing and African drumming.
10.00: The Square. Synchronous orchestral performance led by Svend Erik Gam.
11.30: The Square. Nyborg folk dancers in regional costumes dance to Positivspilleren's barrel organ music.
12.30: Museum yard. Hanne and Aage Lind, sings the song Lirekassemandens Datter.
13.30: The harbor. Synchronous orchestral performance led by Svend Erik Gam.
13.00-14.00: Museum yard, Musical lecture with Gerado and Christoph, who talk about the barrel organ and the history of  barrel organ music. The lecture takes place in German.
14.00: Museum yard. Presentation of an original barrel organ from the 1800s.
15.30: The harbor. Barrel organ player, artist and children's book author Jørgen Rosland plays children's songs and shows paintings from his children's book.
16.00-19.00: Barrel organ music and fun on the harbor.

 

Program Sunday 23 July
10.00: Collective farewell concert at the harbor. Ullrich Schäfers plays a farewell tune on his large electronic barrel organ.
