A hike through high cliffs, birds, vantage points and a unique landscape, 8.3 km

At shallow water level it is possible to reach Hjortholm by feet, where the hunters in the pea bull era had residence.

Harre Vig
On the ridges at Harre Vig several burial mounds are located. In decommissioned mounds, graves from the Neolithic single-grave culture and dagger age as well as from the Bronze Age have been discovered.

The "port" at Lysen Bredning
In the 19th century, the beach and strait to Hjortholm on the north side at Lysen Bredning formed a natural harbor. Here it was possible for larger ships to dock due to the great water depth.

Ships could load and unload without paying taxes. This was of great annoyance for the town of Skive, and when the town constructed and built a harbor in 1869, a complaint was sent to the government.

The operations of the harbor at Lysen Bredning were then banned despite the small natural harbor was ideally located for Vest- and Nordsalling.

The lock at Lysen Odde
The lock was built in 1899 and controlled the salty water from the fjord from entering Hjerk Nor at high tide and thereby damaging the grazing on the large and bounded meadow areas.

Hjerk Nor
Hjerk Nor is rich at nature experiences. The flora and fauna in the area is full of many wild plants, including beautiful species of orchids herb.

The area has a great baseline for a snap herb tour, as it is possible to find many natural herbs and species. Also, several kitchen-middens have been found around Hjerk Nor.

Kitchen-middens arose related to the settlements of the pea bull culture in the Stone Age and comprised of clam shells, bones, etc.

You can find kitchen-middens in several locations along the coastline of the Stone Age.

Hjortholm
Hjortholm is a partially flooded peninsula. At normal/low water levels, you can hike on the peninsula. Hjortholm has been, like several other places at Hjerk Nor a settlement for the hunters in the older Stone Age pea bull culture. You may be lucky to find flint flakes and other processed tools here.
