Monument over dead sailors

Dødemandsbjergene is a large monument, erected by the Danish reporters in memory of the 1391 English marines, who at Christmas 1811 drowned in the sea by Thorsminde, when two English man-of-wars Sct. George and Defence founded in the breakers.

The monument is situated approx. 800 m south of Thorsminde. The dunes themselves, which are called Dødemandsbjergene (dead men's dunes), are located on the opposite side of the road.

Visit the exhibition of the event at Strandingsmuseum St. George, Thorsminde.
