Maritime attractions

Funen – An Island of Opportunity Some people claim that Funen is the most beautiful spot in Denmark. We will leave it to others to judge whether that is the case. However, Funen is a favourite destination keenly sought by yachters and more than one in four harbour calls in Denmark are made to the island of Funen.

The ocean surrounding Funen, Hans Christian Andersen's island of birth, and the South Funen Archipelago is a very popular destination for yachters with a penchant for picturesque seaports located in idyllic and cosy settings and small, charming islands that attract sailing tourists with their rural villages and small, intimate harbours.
Islands are the Salt of LifeSvendborg Sound is probably one of Denmark's most beautiful waterways and to the south, the South Funen Archipelago opens up with small and medium sized islands studded with harbours and anchor berths.
The archipelago's largest attraction is Ærøskøbing on the island of Ærø where the old town centre has been carefully preserved for many generations so when you take a stroll through the winding, paved passages, it feels like stepping back in time several centuries.
